Plati returns with new music, videos and an album ready to be released by the end of November.
The Bahamian artiste has made a few changes and one of them is the name. He was formerly known as the lead singer of the band “Plati and the Naykid-I” but has made the decision to now be known as a solo act and use the name “Plati” only. The new website http://www.platidread.com reflects the changes. He will however continue to play with his full band for live performances.
The new single “21 December 2012” is the first official release off the new forthcoming album “Event Horizon.” The song is intended to start a dialogue on cosmic events some scientists, astro-physicists, psychologists and anthropologists are predicting for 12/21/2012.
Plati explains, “it is not a matter about personal beliefs but I rather want to bring a conversation to the forefront that everyone should have. I want to stimulate discourse and curiosity,” and he adds “People should be curious about the possibility of something so important. It could mean the end of an age and the beginning of another.”
“21 December 2012” is a conceptual piece of work by an artiste who cannot easily be labeled and tied down by any genres. Plati references his Bahamian heritage just as much as his international experiences, world music, literature, science, astrology and current affairs.
