Riding high on the popularity of their monster hit ‘Prescription’ former Chutney-Soca Monarch Ravi B and his band Karma have certainly kicked off a performance-packed Carnival 2013 season in ripping form.
This past weekend the energy and excitement of Caribbean vibrations invaded the South Florida city of Miami. Being the last major stop on the annual Carnival calendar, hundreds of partygoers, entertainers and event promoters enjoyed the Columbus weekend in fine style. Not to be left out of the action, Ravi B, Nisha B and the band Karma brought Chutney-Soca flavour to many of Miami’s main events.
In the same month that the islands of Trinidad and Tobago and Jamaica celebrated 50 years as independent countries, top Chutney-Soca band, Karma marked one decade as a musical ensemble. Fresh off of high-energy appearances at Canada’s Caribana and Guyana’s Jamzone, Karma commemorated this landmark event in its history with a major 10th anniversary concert extravaganza and high profile performances in its homeland of T&T.
Even with numerous achievements and Caribbean music accolades under her belt and after having earned the respect and approval of her industry counterparts including Soca King Machel Montano, Nisha Bissambhar continues to strive for further creative excellence in 2012. This year will see new developments and evolution in the Chutney-Soca Princess’ career and unique entertainment brand.
