Every country has something unique and very different especially when it comes to food. I have been having a craving for a small sardine like fish commonly known in these parts (Jamaica) as Sprat.

4th Annual International Maroon Conference
The Charles Town Maroon Council will be staging their 4th Annual International Maroon Conference from Thursday June 21 to Saturday June 23 in Charles Town, Portland.
Caribbean Shrimp Festival on the grill for July 14
The Festival is a family oriented event which targets a wide cross section of person both in Jamaica and across the Caribbean region. The event is, however, specifically geared towards seafood lovers who are looking for good food and wholesome entertainment during the summer holiday. The location for this event is the exquisite Whitter Village in Ironshore Montego Bay. The organisers of this event have contracted the services of top decorators who will be working to enhance the natural beauty which underpins our chosen location. In doing so, the grounds will be exquisitely decorated with matching tents. The tents will hold the various restaurants that will be manned by top chefs from across the island. All food tents will be branded and represented by the name of a Caribbean Island. Each tent will be required to produce two specialized shrimp dishes for patrons.
We have also put together a delightful entertainment package which is in keeping with our promise up to provide wholesome entertainment that is fit for everyone. Among our list of entertainment activities are: Cook Off Dad’s Competition, Art and Craft Show, Bikini Pageant, as well as, the crowning of Miss Caribbean Shrimp Festival 2012. There will also be a Kids Zone where face painting, bounce-a-bout, and stilt walking will be provided for the kids.
Caribbean Shrimp Festival aims to showcase the best of Jamaica and by extension the rest of the Caribbean in a one day event. We urge everyone to come out and make July 14, 2012 a day that will be etched in your memory and on your events calendar.
