Hundreds pack launch event for The Miami Foundation’s $100,000 Our Miami Public Space Challenge


The Miami Foundation President and CEO Javier Alberto Soto speaks at the Our Miami Public Space Challenge LaunchMore than 400 young professionals, local change-agents and engaged Miamians filled The Stage Miami for The Miami Foundation’s Our Miami Project Launch.  The kickoff event, held on Wednesday, July 31, introduced two new projects: the Public Space Challenge and Match305, a talent retention project. Both programs are part of the foundation’s Our Miami initiative, which fosters community by building attachment to the city, developing public spaces and retaining young talent in Miami.

Introducing Motive


motive (2)Motive was born Paul Brown in Kinston Jamaica in 1983. He grew up with a love for music, especially reggae music, by the likes of Beres Hammond, George Nooks and reggae legend Bob Marley. His singing talents were evident since childhood and young Paul performed in every school concert during his years at Denham Town High School and the Jamaica German Automotive School.

Sixty-five local nonprofits receive $1 million at The Miami Foundation’s 2013 Community Grants event

The Miami Foundation hosted their annual Community Grants signature event on June 18 in the Diamond Club at Marlins Park. Generously sponsored by TotalBank, more than 150 donors, nonprofit executive directors, board members and community leaders gathered to celebrate the program that awarded $1 million to 65 local nonprofit organizations.
